Unlike any other software that requires digital edits and complicated recording settings today, an old-school 8 track recorder allows you to record 8 tracks sequentially without moving your mouse. What is interesting is that you probably don’t know there are some 8 track recorders that come with CD burner. If you wanna know a little bit more about these special 8-track recorders, here is what we found.
What’s an 8 Track Recorder with CD Burner?
Back in the days, when DAWs were rare to see in homes, recording different instruments onto different tracks and combining them together was not an easy job to do. Hence, Multi-track recorders were launched to make music lovers be able to record music/instrument tracks easily and simply.
An 8 track recorder with CD burner has 8 different tracks and allows users to record from external sources onto them separately. Most importantly, besides saving digital formats onto USB or SD cards, a recorder with a built-in CD burner can directly burn your tracks onto audio CDs. These multi-track recorders are pretty friendly and beginners can line up their music perfectly without learning any digital software. And I personally think that using an 8 track recorder with CD burner is still the easiest solution to creating simple music CDs, even today.

The TASCAM DP-03 came out a decade ago and it was a classic product back then. TASCAM DP-03 & TASCAM DP-02 were both great 8 track recorders and now they are replaced by a new DP-03SP, which does not have a CD burner. Although you can still get a brand new TASCAM DP-03SP on their official store, it does not have an old-school CD burner. Thus, the TASCAM DP-03 was the last 8-track recorder with CD burner and you probably can get a good-conditioned unit in a second-hand store.
The TASCAM DP-03 (or DP-02) is a pretty compact product and it is very easy to use. With the switchable instrument-level input, you can easily and directly record guitar/bass without extra process. Besides, it comes with two internal condenser microphones for capturing your voices clearly, and you will also get two XLR microphone inputs for your own mics.
The 8 track digital recorder also imports the WAV files from USB and SD and transfer audio to the included SD card. The most unique advantage is that you can do CD burning and it let you share your music conveniently through a writable CD.
